Dr. Jorge Pelaez, DMD, FAGD

Jorge Pelaez grew up in the rolling hills of Western Pennsylvania near Pittsburgh. He completed pre-dental studies at Penn State University where he was also a member of the varsity golf team. Subsequently, he attended dental school at the University of Pittsburgh, where he graduated in 2001.

After completing a one-year AEGD (Advanced Education in General Dentistry) residency, he spent an additional 7 years in military service as a Navy dentist. During his military time, he was stationed at Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, North Carolina and at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego, California. The Navy then brought him back east to Virginia Beach where he spent his last 3 years of military service at the Dam Neck Dental Clinic.

Dr. Pelaez thrives on continuing education. He attained his fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry in 2010. On a regular basis, he seeks out the latest techniques and equipment to make dentistry more efficient, comfortable and affordable for his patients. He maintains active membership in the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, Tidewater Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, American Academy of Implant Dentistry and American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.

“My favorite hobby is actually dentistry, believe it or not. I think I’m very lucky to love my job as much as I do. I really never feel that I’m working when treating patients. Practicing dentistry is one of the most enjoyable activities for me.”

Candi Beneze, Dental Hygienist

Candi hygienist for Dentistry of Virginia Beach Candi has been practicing dental hygiene in the Tidewater area for more than 35 years. She has worked in both specialty and general settings but prefers the family feel of a general practice.

Her favorite part of the job is making people feel comfortable coming into the dental office. It’s a huge reward to see a nervous patient transform into a mellow fellow with time.

A lifetime learner, she stays current with the latest innovations by attending multiple continuing education courses each year. She is a member of the American Dental Hygiene Association, the Virginia Dental Hygiene Association, and the Tidewater Dental Hygiene Association.

A Virginia Beach native, she loves the outdoors. Running, biking, and yoga are her favorite activities. She likes to unplug and disappear for an adventure whenever possible. She’s married to her best friend of 34 years, Fred. They share an amazing daughter. She is anxiously awaiting a Doberman puppy after the loss of her senior Dobie, Kelso, in the fall of 2022.
